Society is an open-ended partnership between generations. The dead and the unborn are as much members of society as the living. To dishonor the dead is to reject the relation on which society is built - a relation of obligation between generations. Those who have lost respect for the dead have ceased to be trustees of their inheritance. Inevitably, therefore, they lose the sense of obligation to future generations. The web of obligations shrinks to the present tense. ~ Edmund Burke

Black Southerners in Confederate Gray

"There have been many major contributions to our nation and to our society by black Americans some that have changed history – and are continuing to do so today. One area that has never received the recognition it deserved and has even been over-looked to a certain degree was that of black Southerners who fought for the Confederacy..." - The Murfreesboro Post

This is a story that needs to be told, told, and retold. It is a truly fascinating subject that really needs to be fully explored. There are some books available on the topic, but no tour de force yet-- at least to my knowledge.
